More than 800 FIDF supporters from Florida and across the country joined the former Ambassador of Israel to the U.S. and former Lone Soldier Michael Oren on Thursday, March 2, for the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF) Miami Solidarity Gala at The Diplomat Hotel, that raised over $2 million to support education and well-being services for the brave men and women of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). SUNNY ISLES, Fla., Sept. 15 – Sixty Miami-area Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF) IMPACT! Scholarship supporters gathered at Temple Beit Rambam last Thursday to honor supporters of the FIDF IMPACT! Scholarship Program, which grants college scholarships to Israeli combat veterans of modest means. FIDF Greater Miami Solidarity Gala raises over $2.5M to support Israeli soldiers

HOLLYWOOD, Fla., March 4 – Israel’s Ambassador to the United States Ron Dermer addressed the dynamic Mideast security situation in Israel on Thursday at the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF) Greater Miami Solidarity Dinner. More than 900 supporters from across Florida gathered for the gala, one of the Miami Jewish community’s largest events, raising more than $2.5 million to support educational and well-being programs for the brave men and women of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). Sunday, Jan 24 Friends of the IDF participated as a charity in the Miami Marathon with Cold Pressed Raw! All participants finished strong (and revived with cold-pressed juices at our tent) in their custom FIDF dry-fit shirts; for many it was their first Half-Marathon! 

We are so proud of the hard work and dedication that every participant put into completing this event and look forward to doing so for years to come!

MIAMI, Dec. 11 – Hundreds of Israeli soldiers are enjoying Hanukkah celebrations on Israel Defense Forces(IDF) bases across Israel thanks to support from the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF) Greater MiamiRegion.FIDF’s ambassadors in Israel brought messages of hope and light – and sufganiyot (jelly-filled doughnutstraditionally eaten on Hanukkah) – to the IDF’s elite Golani Brigade, which the FIDF Greater Miami Regionadopted as part of the FIDF Adopt-A-Brigade Program.The FIDF Adopt-A-Brigade Program allows supporters to go beyond their donation to get more involved,providing financial aid for IDF soldiers in-need and their families, supporting Lone Soldiers, and fundinggeneral well-being activities and weeks of rest and recuperation for soldiers of the adopted brigade.

2015 Yom L’Chayal Events

Between October 28th and November 3rd, the Miami and Orlando communities were visited by the IDF musical ensemble, who entertained large crowds with lively series of popular and traditional Israeli songs. Performances took place at Temple Beth Am, Aventura Turnberry Jewish Center, Congregation Ohev Shalom, and David Posnack Jewish Community Center.     READ MORE

IDF Captain Aviran Elfassy from the Givati Brigade came to visit Miami and share his story of leadership and courage.  He moved guests at a private Parlor Meeting hosted by FIDF Board members Nava and Mik Itzak and at Temple Menorah.  He shared his story of bravery where he served in a reconnaissance unit to retrieve abducted Lt. Hadar Goldin Z’’L from the terrorist tunnels.  For his action in this mission Aviran received the Brigade Commander Medal of Honor.  Aviran is a true hero and looks forward to serving his country for years to come in the military.

On Wednesday April 22, Thursday April 23 and Sunday April 26, 2015, The Friends of the IDF Greater Miami Chapter (FIDF) took part in a huge community affair for Yom Hazikaron, and Yom Ha’ atzmaut at the Michael-Anne Russell JCC in North Miami, The Galbut Family JCC in Miami Beach and Haulover Park. Yom Hazikaron traditionally is a day that remembers the soldiers in the IDF who have fallen in battle, and Yom Ha’atzmaut is Israel’s Independence Day.      



$4.5 million was raised at  2015 annual Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF) Greater Miami Chapter Solidarity Gala at The Diplomat Hotel in Hollywood, Florida. More than 1,100 FIDF supporters and lay leaders joined together in honoring FIDF National Chairman, Nily Falic.

Falic, a seventh-generation Israeli, was the chairman of the Instituto Cultural Floridiano Israeli and is a recipient of the Galardon De Jose Marti Award. She is a lifetime member of Hadassah Women and a recipient of the Weitzman Institute “Women of Vision” award. She and her family are passionate advocates and supporters of the State of Israel. Her three grandsons were Lone Soldiers -- those who immigrate alone to Israel to enlist in the IDF -- and served as paratroopers.      READ MORE
