Yom Ha’atzmaut Community Events 2015
On Wednesday April 22, Thursday April 23 and Sunday April 26, 2015, The Friends of the IDF Greater Miami Chapter (FIDF) took part in a huge community affair for Yom Hazikaron, and Yom Ha’ atzmaut at the Michael-Anne Russell JCC in North Miami, The Galbut Family JCC in Miami Beach and Haulover Park. Yom Hazikaron traditionally is a day that remembers the soldiers in the IDF who have fallen in battle, and Yom Ha’atzmaut is Israel’s Independence Day.
In honor of Israel’s 67th Anniversary and of Yom Hatzikaron, FIDF and many other Jewish Organizations came together to create a truly memorable Israeli festival. There was Pita Making, traditional Israeli food, rock climbing, and much more! The FIDF set up a unique soldier boot camp for the children. The kids had their face painted, hopped, ran, jumped and crawled and learned self-defense tactics traditionally taught in the IDF. The kids truly had a good time; leaving feeling accomplished having conquered the “IDF mini- Bootcamp!
