Yankees’ fans raised over $100,000 at FIDF event at Yankee Stadium
On Monday, July 16, Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF), together with Mindy and Randy Levine, President of the NY Yankees, hosted a fundraising event at their private suite in Yankee Stadium in support of Israel’s soldiers. Among the 60 attendees were both longtime FIDF supporters and new friends who joined with Major General (Res.) Yitzhak (Jerry) Gershon, FIDF National Director, and IDF soldiers for a stadium tour and a visit to batting practice before watching the NY Yankees defeat the Toronto Blue Jays.
The event was a homerun for Israel’s soldiers, raising $100,000 for the Oketz Unit, the canine special forces unit of the IDF. The money raised will provide a much needed SPIRIT R&R week for the unit this fall. It will also be used to support wellbeing needs of the soldiers, including clothing, backpacks, and fleeces.
“I am very honored to be a part of Friends of the Israel Defense Forces. I believe it is essential to support the courageous men and women of the Oketz Unit and their military working dogs who sacrifice a great deal to keep their borders and country safe and secure,” says Randy Levine, President of the NY Yankees.
FIDF is grateful to Mindy and Randy Levine and our generous supporters who helped FIDF “hit it out of the park” on July 16.
