Midatlantic Chapter

Baltimore | Washington

The Midatlantic Region of the FIDF was founded in late summer of 2008 in the Baltimore community. The founding members quickly established a working committee that has grown into the Midatlantic Board of Directors. In that time Baltimore was able to quickly grow by hosting programs that included four galas, numerous parlor meetings and activities introducing and educating FIDF to the Baltimore metropolitan area.
Midatlantic FIDF is proud to be part of the national FIDF team that
stands behind the men and women of the Israel Defense Forces.

Washington D.C.

The Washington, D.C. chapter is one of the newest additions to the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces family having formally launched in the fall of 2011. Due to the enormous support for the young men and women who serve in the IDF throughout the D.C. Metro Area the decision was made for the organization to expand with a regional presence in the D.C. area.

The Chapter held its Founders’ Dinner in May of 2012 and has hosted a full calendar of events over the last year including a screening of Follow Me: The Yoni Netanyahu Story, a concert by the IDF Musical Ensemble and A Night In Tel Aviv for our Young Leadership Division.

Based in Rockville, MD, the goal of the chapter will be to reach supporters and host events in communities throughout the Metro area. Long-term goals of the FIDF Washington, D.C. Chapter will include bringing in Israeli military leaders and Lone Soldiers for community briefings and meet & greets, showcasing the IDF Musical Ensemble at special concerts and host other events and speakers that provide access to those who serve as defenders of Eretz Yisrael.

Throughout the D.C. Metro area, there is a fabulous group of both emerging and established community leaders who are passionate about the work that FIDF undertakes. They have played and will continue to play a key role in our important work moving forward.

"As world events continue to point towards even more challenging and difficult times ahead for the State of Israel, I have an overwhelming appreciation and gratitude for the men and women of the Israeli Defense Forces. With our homeland under constant threats of growing intensity, these brave soldiers are the defenders of our homeland. I am honored and privileged to have the opportunity to make their days a little better and to let them know that we are with them."

- Ron Eisenberg, FIDF Midatlantic President

"Even with all of her achievements, Israel is still threatened by hostile neighbors. I understand the only way our Jewish homeland has been able to grow and prosper is because of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The men and women of the IDF have been remarkable defending the State of Israel as well as being a beacon of strength for Jews throughout the world. I am very proud of our soldiers and can't think of a better way to say "Thank you" than by giving my moral and financial support to the soldiers of the IDF."

- Bobby Cohen, Co-Chair Washington FIDF Founders' Dinner

"The safety and security of Israel is of paramount importance not only to the Jews of Israel but to the Jewish people everywhere. The soldiers of the IDF protect and defend the country and FIDF supports the soldiers of the IDF. When I learned of the many aspects of FIDF involvement with assistance to our soldiers –social, recreational, educational and familial – it became a “no-brainer” for me to become involved."

- William Z. Fox, Chairman of the Board Midatlantic and National Member

"I joined FIDF because as a Jew there is nothing more important than the protection of Israel. I have the highest amount of respect for the Soldiers of the IDF and want to do all I can to make their life as comfortable as possible in a world of conflict. The FIDF allows me to make direct impact on soldier’s lives – without any red tape."

- Keith B. Scott, Baltimore Young Leadership of the FIDF

"The physical security of the State of Israel should be the paramount concern of every Jew. If one cannot personally be a part of its defense, then it is incumbent upon one to find a meaningful way to participate. For me, that is by supporting the men and women of the IDF."

- Joshua M. Mauer, First Vice President
