FIDF Mission to Israel
On November 6, 2009, the Ohio Friends of the IDF embarked on what proved to be an unforgettable mission. The itinerary included many of the must see tourist destinations - the Old City of Jerusalem, the Dead Sea, Tel Aviv nightlife, and Israeli wineries. We also visited the experiential Palmach Museum which brought to life how this underground Hagana defense group contributed to the founding of Israel
The base visits and meeting soldiers were for many the highlights of the trip. We saw with our own eyes how vital the IDF is to Israel and how FIDF is so important to the soldiers. We had the rare opportunity to spend time with high-ranking officials, including a Major General and Lieutenant Colonel who heads the Causalities Department. We met the families of fallen soldiers and heard their incredibly emotional stories as well as some of our IMPACT scholarship recipients who shared with us their tremendous appreciation and their aspirations for the future.
