Young Leadership Central Region

Friends of the Israel Defense Forces Central Region – Young Leadership (YL) officially began in the summer of 2007 to provide an outlet for thousands of young professionals in Chicago and the greater Central Region to express their support for the soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces. We now offer more opportunities than ever to get involved in one of the most important, dynamic, and fastest-growing organizations in the community.

YL continually increases its outreach by planning a variety of engaging and diverse monthly programs. Our events include stimulating educational receptions with IDF soldiers, inspiring documentary film nights, entertaining parties at the hottest restaurants and bars, and much more. With over a thousand participants (and still growing!), FIDF YL is a major attraction for Chicago’s young community to share their support for the brave men and women of the IDF.

In 2007, FIDF Central Region YL made a commitment to sponsor academic scholarships for four former Israeli combat soldiers through the IMPACT! Scholarship Program. This program grants full scholarships for higher education or vocational training is Israel to combat veterans from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds. Funds raise at YL events help to support these four scholarships.

Young Leadership Central Region Upcoming Events

FIDF Central Region YACHAD Endurance Team

The FIDF Central Region YACHAD Endurance Team is a cross-training and fundraising team, which prepares athletes to participate in any racing event from a 5K to a triathlon to the Chicago Marathon through constantly varied cross-training sessions. Hebrew for “together,” YACHAD promotes teamwork and provides athletic support to participants looking to achieve their individual racing goals. Training with YACHAD also requires a $50 joining fee and a minimum pledge to FIDF of $180 per person.
Training will begin in the Spring and continue through Fall.

On Wednesday, August 25, 2010 FIDF YL hosted about 30 young leaders for a private tequila and taco tasting at Double A, the Private Tequila Lounge at Mercadito Chicago.
