New Jersey Chapter
NJ Chapter | 1430 Broadway | New York, NY 10018
The New Jersey Chapter of Friends of the IDF is often referred to as the “Lone Soldier Chapter”. The chapter began in 1970 when three Lone Soldiers – Sammy Bar Or, Avi Oren and Mike Gross- met while serving in the IDF Paratroopers Brigade, bonded together in their communal challenge of being Lone Soldiers. After returning to the states, Sammy and Avi reunited and wanted to provide aid to Lone Soldiers and give them comfort that they themselves did not have. That dream realized itself in 2005 when the chapter’s first Annual IDF Tribute Dinner was held. Since its inception, the dinner has continued to grow and raise funds to better the lives of the brave young men and women of the IDF.
