2007/2008 Westchester/CT chapter campaign
The Westchester/CT chapter successfully raised $1,000,000 for the 2007/2008 campaign. The funds were distributed to support 5 IDF regional brigades through FIDF programs as well as 14 former combat soldiers with educational scholarships.
The IDF regional brigades, comprised of designated and rotating combat forces, are at the forefront of Israel’s defense, IDF security and counter-terror activity. The regional Brigades, known in Hebrew as “Hatmarim,” operate as regional headquarters. They manage the operation of the various combat battalions that serve in their regions. There are 5 regional brigades that were adopted by the Westchester/CT chapter: Hatmar Binyamin, Judea, Habika, Menashe, and Shomron. They are all entrusted with the crucial and complex mission of securing one of Israel’s most challenging areas.
The following breakdown describes how the 2007/2008 campaign was planned:
As part of the campaign, the Westchester/CT chapter supported each of the 5 regional brigades for 3 years with $26,000 towards the FIDF Dignity program. Over the 3 years they will have received $390,000 in crucial financial aid and services.
The campaign also included $25,000 per year per each of the 5 regional brigades for the FIDF Adopt-a-Battalion program. Over the 3 years the soldiers serving in the regional brigades will have received $375,000 in funds dedicated to their wellbeing needs.
In addition to supporting the 5 regional brigades, the Westchester/CT chapter supported the FIDF IMPACT! program in the 2007/2008 campaign.
Through the FIDF IMPACT! Program, $224,000 was distributed to 14 former combat soldiers who were awarded full B.A. scholarships studying at Israeli institutions. IMPACT! students are required to give 130 hours of volunteer service every year of their study. By the end of 2010, our students will have completed 7,280 hours giving back to their communities!!!
