FIDF YL & Birthright Israel NEXT South Florida Joint Event

For the first time, the Greater Miami Chapter Young Leadership Division and Birthright Israel NEXT decided to partner up for a memorable evening.

On March 9th, Brad Meier, YL President, hosted a picture perfect evening in his ocean side home in Golden Beach, FL. The delicious Mediterranean food theme certainly helped create a relaxing atmosphere. The evening welcomed guests from both organizations. This event gave many BRI Alumni the opportunity to learn about the FIDF programs and help promote awareness for the FIDF.

After showing a short video, Stephanie Spiegel, Local Coordinator of Birthright Israel NEXT South Florida, spoke about the importance of the connection Taglit-Birthright Israel trip participants have to the land and people of Israel, and their commitment to a Jewish life.

Oren Kattan, YL Board member and Greater Miami Board Secretary tied right into the Jewish responsibility theme. He briefly exposed the mission of the FIDF of providing and supporting social, educational, cultural and recreational programs to our soldiers and proceeded to show the “FIDF Accomplishments” video.

Special guest, 2nd Lieutenant Major Eyal Almog from the Israel Defense Forces attended this event and shared his life and combat experiences.

Lindsay Litowitz, Birthright Israel NEXT South Florida Director, moderated a short Q&A session with 2nd Lt. Major Almog and closed with encouraging remarks. She informed us that thousands of Birthright Israel alumni have returned to Israel to work, study, or volunteer. One may think “Maybe some of them will be our Lone Soldiers one day.”

Overall big success, and great time had by all!
