Friends of the IDF is excited to announce the FIDF HAGANAH in 2012!

Literally translating to “the defense” in Hebrew, the historical Haganah organization formed in 1920 was conceived to protect the Jewish people from Arab riots and violence. Almost 90 years later, the IDF carries out this mission, and it is our responsibility to support the soldiers that sacrifice so much for us.

The FIDF HAGANAH was established in 2009 through the efforts of Amy & Scott Smith as a means for generating grassroots support from our local community. The HAGANAH offers individuals the opportunity to make a difference through a small annual donation of $360.

This effort has already made changes in the lives of many. Thanks to the FIDF HAGANAH…

  • 2 Lone Soldiers received round-trip flights home to visit their families and loved ones
  • A former combat soldier received a full university scholarship through the IMPACT! Program
  • A Bar Mitzvah child from a bereaved family visited summer camp in the U.S. for 2 weeks through the LEGACY Program
  • 18 combat soldiers enjoyed a SPIRIT Rest & Relaxation week, renewing their morale before going back to the front-line
We received tremendous positive response from this effort and are delighted to ignite the program once again in 2012.

With your support, it is our hope to reach and excite new communities through a targeted, individualized and accessible approach.

If you are interested in joining the HAGANAH or becoming an Officer in the Executive Committee please contact Rebecca Feld, Director Long Island Chapter, at Rebecca.Feld@fidf.org or (646) 274-9649.
