Michigan Chapter Young Israel of Oak Park and Young Israel of Southfield Brunch

Young Israel of Oak Park and Young Israel of Southfield partnered with the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF) Michigan Chapter hosting a brunch honoring Israel’s soldiers on April 30th. They welcomed guest speaker, Sergeant Michael Solomon, a post combat IDF soldier who served in the Nachal 932 battalion during Operation Protective Edge. Sergeant Solomon shared that while stationed in northern Judea and Samaria, there were many times their unit successfully prevented attacks when terrorists attempted to get into Israel. He stated that he “fully understood the importance of protecting the citizens who live up north and live every day in fear of repeated attacks”.

Michael is currently an FIDF Impact Scholarship program recipient studying at Rupin College, thanks to the Hersch and Sherizen families who are generously sponsoring his university studies honoring the memory of Betty Solomon Hersch of blessed memory. FIDF’s IMPACT! Scholarship program grants 4 year academic scholarships to combat and combat support soldiers in need, enabling them to achieve their dreams of higher education.
